I thats all its been run on putting a modern oil in will kill it. The old straight 30's have no detergents in the oil so you get build ups of overheated oil stuck on all the hot bits, when you put a modern oil in with detergents it starts cleaning it off and then the lumpy bits end up in the oil pick up pipe, oil pressure drops, engine dies.

should use 15w40, but them things maybe better with 20w50 in
