GoWesty does some dogs bo**ox material type ones, alleged rot-proof, water-resist etc etc. Quite expensive, plus carriage and probably import duty etc, BUT is it one of those jobs you want to do more than once in your lifetime?

Nah, later model uses small screws. Have heard that the spales can be a little awkward.
Think there are some instructions on the GoWesty site. |

I fitted one from JK, The quality seemed good enough.
Fitting is not that bad, just remove the roof, fit new canvas to that section, then its roof back on and refit the ally strips on top of the canvas to the metal roof ... the bits at the back are a bit awkward cos your stuffed for room. Kerr |

If they still make the original one's go for one of them even if they cost more. I had one similiar to the JK one and it is harder to fit than the original ones. Just put a westy roof on the syncro and used the original canvas dead easy. The originals come with plastic bead trim at both ends van roof and elevating roof. The JK type one i had, only had the bead one end. So i put that one on the van roof (looks neater), and had to tension the elevating roof bit by bit, pain in the arse. And the rear part of canvas is harder as stated earlier, not much room. IMHO its not worth removing the roof to do the job. Higher risk of cracking the roof, scratching the van or underside of roof etc. There heavy items. If they still do original ones, could you let me know where you got it from and costs, may change mine as it has a small tear in it. |

The Gunzl one is the closest one i have seen to the original. It is a similar thickness and quality, but only has the beading on the bottom. The JK ones are pretty thin, and dont seem to fit as well as the Gunzl ones. And i should know, as i had to return 2 to JK! They were good though, and bought in the Gunzl one and gave me some freebies. Its not a bad job, but one that you only want to undertake once. Go for the best canvas you can afford. |

Have had the Go Westy one out in torrential rain and winds and it stayed put, it has front and side windows and being synthetic doesn't mildew.

I just got one from gowesty and it was the top spec one rot proof etc it was £218.00 GBP delivered ($429) but got stung with customs another £ 78.00 the dollers weak at the moment nearly two to the pound. I opened the packaging and it looks and feels really good plus full choice of colours and three windows.. I have asked Simon Baxter to fit mine and he is happy to do it. Twiggy

i fitted a jk to mine - it came with the van. I removed
the roof as i saw this to be the best option plus you can give it a real good clean without drenching the inside of your van. the fit is not the best - bit like a hanky on a tramps head - could be tighter but it is ok cheers |
