Got stuck into some more fiddly welding today. I popped the plug where the sill butts up to the lower B-pillar pressing and found that the cavity had some kind of wax treatment.

Would this have been done at the factory as standard or as an option. Or has a previous owner blessed me with this?  It was a very sticky yellowey brown. Not waxoyl.

Picture needs to be looked at 90 degrees anti-clockwise

every van ive ever owned had it.

My Westy had the common rusy seam, and inside the floor was rotten to an almost perfect straight line where the wax came to! So its good stuff. Just a shame they didnt go a bit higher with it

OK, thanks for the info. I think the problem with my offside is that the wax had dropped and blocked the 2 openings on the bottom seam. Nearside is still perfect.

hmmm, got a feeling dinitrol has been beaten by bilt hamber in practical classics rust tests, better "creep" into seams
