Paul,
If it's any use, I was clearing out the garage at the weekend and found the metal parts of the Syncro 16 that my current arches (which I've fitted to the Single Cab) were attached to so it's able to copy how much to cut off.
Let me know if you need them.

I've heard that Volkswagen will reproduce the original 16" arches. I hope I can get some photos soon.

Right - any form of hard rubber is way out of my league and budget at the moment.
A tough impact plastic may be doable but requires a hefty investment. If VW are reproducing I am inclined to see what they do and how much they cost, this is really not the time to be funding something that cannot recoup its investment so, unless everyone wants to cough up in advance, or do a co-operative deal, I shall await confirmation from VW one way or the other. Cheers, Paul. |

CV joints have always been avaialble from other manufactures, last check there were 3 or 4 different companies with them listed as a current part number.
Genuine were Lobro [GKN] and at last check (a couple of weeks ago) there was still no news of GKN running another batch, conflicting reports I've had from other sources.

dont think GKN automotive will be making much as that part of the company has been realy shafted by the car industry going down...
(i work for GKN but a different devision)

WHY T3's.... because they are just so adictive, and having one just aint enough

hi all,
since a couple of weeks i sell high quality fibreglass copies of the 16 inch wheel arches.
The big front ones are strengthened with kevlar for those who want to rivet them on the doors, like originally. But you can off course also mount them on the inside of the door (the body). The six other ones come with stainless steel bolts to mount them on your syncro.
As these are 16 inch ones you can either trim the body of the car, or modify the arches : they are made from fibreglass so any body worker should be able to make them shorter to fit on a 14 inch without cutting.
All you need to do is sand them a bit and paint them in mat black. Best is to use black sikaflex on the corners of the arches since even when you bolt them on there might be small gaps.
Delivery time is normally two weeks but for the moment it's a bit difficult to keep up with the demand.
Price is € 365 plus postage.
The parts are also available seperately for those who have a 16 inch syncro and are missing one or more parts.
