I suppose i could put it through the books and claim the vat back as a business expense?
£268 doesn't sound as bad as £315 - bearing in mind i got carried away and spent £460 on drills yesterday it sounds quite cheap now Wink

I often invoice people for ECU Repair if they intend claiming it back. Ask them if they can do the sameClap

Not sure about whether remap removes speed limiter or not.
I'll ask the guy doing the job- probably be extra job/ extra money!Ouch

Thats if he can get here and we're not still snowbound.
Also bad weather might mean my remap gets re-scheduled so they can catch up with any
cancelled bookings.Thumbs Down

Celtic removed my speed limiter FOC, took him a while to get rid of it from the ECU too but pushed way past 120 on the dyno afterwards - no i havent tried it on real roads yet!

I didn't realise that it had a speed limiter when i booked it, but when i took it in there he asked if I wanted it doing. I wasn't sure that i would ever need to do more than 120 but the guy said "I might as well do it - never know when you might find yourself on the autobahn!"

I've just found the print out and I'll try to get it scanned in later, the pre remap run was 179bhp - more than stock but he said it can vary and mine had been driven hard which keeps it in better condition. Interestingly my dad had his fiat ducato motorhome remapped there recently and it was well down on stock power on the initial run and he got told off for not ever working the engine enough. He put it through loads of runs just to clear the soot out of the engine and there was a PILE of it at the end of the exhaust!

after 5 runs trying to finish the remap including de-limiting mine it did 219.5bhp but had a fault reading from the MAF sensor which he suggested i changed and would get another 8-10 bhp. I did this a week later and certainly noticed a bit of a difference.

You often wonder with these people that are dealing in stuff you have little understanding of whether they are talking shite to you or not, but having had two cars done there now, and 4 friends and family having theirs done I can't find anything to suggest that the dyno readings are exaggerated. You can fiddle with dynos to change the results but mine was the only one that got a higher than stock reading on the first run, everyone else's were under which suggests its all fine.

Anyway, the exact figures were:

power 219.5bhp @ 3633rpm
torque 343.4lb/ft @ 2962rpm
power at wheels 189.2bhp @ 3592rpm threw me at first but all quoted power from manufacturers and tuners is taken from the flywheel.

A vag specialist service centre and tuner near me, JKM has a dyno too and eventually when i can afford to get a decat and new exhaust ill do a before and after on their dyno to see how it compares. My graph looks pretty much the same as this, but obviously very slightly lower: http://www.celtictuning.co.uk/images/charts/VAG_2.5_TDi_174bhp.jpg
