Im looking at buying my neighbors T4 so i need to know what breaks/where do they rust and what needs checking before i part with my hard earned cash.
The van is a w plate panel van with a 1.9TD motor, any pointers would be appreciated and rewarded with a virtual beer in the forum pub Big smile

Thanks Jason, I would love a t2.5 TDI but this van is for sale at a realistic price so I needed to know where they rot before I part with my money Thumbs Up

Personally I have a 102 hp 2.5tdi and it is nothing but problems. They get a lot of electrical issues so i would stick to the 1.9td as it will last forever if well cared for and be easier to fix than most others.

As said Service history is King, I have a 102 ( Now 130 BHP) & put 80000 miles on it over 5 years with no real issues.
If they are looked after they go forever, A Friend works for a major dealership in Amsterdam & regularly sees 102's with 500/600,000 kilometres on em.
Buy the best you can afford

Thanks guys, I now own my neighbors van (It would have been rude not to at that price) it has the rust in the common places but that will be sorted shortly.
Its had side windows, major service and a smack with the lowering stick (thanks to dp67bug Beer) I'm very happy TBH its not as slow as i thought Smile but the 5th gear mod is in the pipeline and the camping interior to follow over the next few months....

but I have to sell my T3 now tho Cry
