Not sure if this question should be in chat or tech but it's a bit of both.
What brake fluid are folks using in their LT's nowadays? What brands? Recommended in'93 was DOT3 but DOT4 has a higher temp. rating & Viscosity limit but may need changing more regularly as it absorbs more water. Reading around there seem to be pros & cons of each type. Interesting is the DOT 5 which is silicone based and is hydrophobic. Unfortunately it won't mix with either DOT3 / 4 or 5.1 and probably if you did want to replace for 5.0 you'd need to somehow flush the system fully before.
Probably I'll use DOT 3... not sure which brand to go for.

Found some clearer info after readng more & more. Among other things, according to this article: http://www.adlersantiqueautos.com/articles/brake1.html DOT5 is not good choice for vacuum booster engines (like D24's in LT's). If the vacuum pump allows leakage into the engine the DOT 5 (silicone based) may end up getting burnt and oxidizing to silica (sand). Also it can cause rubber parts to swell and soften. You can't just flush a system using DOT 3/4/5.1 and fill up with DOT 5. Modification of braking system is required - new rubber seals / lines / valves. Long N short... don't use DOT5
I read elsewhere that US, Soviet & Finnish Military use DOT5.
Also I thought DOT 5 was newish but it appears to have been around for at leasT3yrs or maybe since the 70's.
