Hy freaks, I just mounted an audi tdi 90cv (code name 1z) on my beloved syncro, but I have a problem: the power steering pump pulley is so so close to the mounting bars, definetively, doesnt fits at all,  they told me to swap the vw polo one, it may fit...dunno, maybe other pulley or a different  pump. I reallized that if i lift the engine by the right support like 3 cm, it runs fine, but looks crappy, I dont liek that solution ...any suggestions?

Thanks.

i have news... the golf 1Z pas setup fits with some minor tweeks, it uses a v belt for the pas pump, if your using a audi AFN style set up that might not fit as its all running on one micro v belt?

The Audi a4 auxiliary belt setup uses a weird config in wich, the same support that holds the pas and the alternator, has inside of it, the water pump, i mean, the waterpump itself is the support for the rest of the auxiliary stuff (pas, alternator and air con compressor)

When i swaped the engine, I tryed to take out this weird support/water pump and use the golf 1z...it doesnt fits, my 1z block is different , because the waterpump has 3 bolts and golf has 4 (or opposite, right now i dont remember) but basicly, its not complatible...So, what if you mean is that i can use just the pas pump(and, in addition) its pulley, im afraid that its not possible, as i remember(I may be wrong, please correct me if i do) the mounting is different.

Please do you have any example of what you mean?

Man, this is driving me nuts...
thanks...

As you can see the suppor for all the auxiliary is different, aswell is included the pulley for the viscous coupling of the fan (audis are inline mounted engines so they fit a fan at the front of the engine)

i am using a AFN with what sounds like the same alternator/water pump/power steering set up (all hung on one bracket) and yes it does slightly foul the engine bar right on the bend. The problem was solved for me by taking a notch out of the engine bar then reinforcing it on the other side. Mine was from a passat, i also have had the fan thing taken off the pully

Finally! Thanks! I was about to custom an smaller pulley this week. Yours is a syncro aswell? Do you have pictures for that notch? from this side it sounds weird to make any hole at that bar, but if you say so and your engine its still there...lets give a try!

Ah, please show aswell if you dont mind the reinforcement you did at that side...Im figuring out how it looks.

Thanks again.

If you have the 1Z engine, why not go back to the std T3 JX pulley set up to run the power steering and water pump?

Job done!
