should use 15w40, but them things maybe better with 20w50 in

should i upgrade then si?

I thats all its been run on putting a modern oil in will kill it. The old straight 30's have no detergents in the oil so you get build ups of overheated oil stuck on all the hot bits, when you put a modern oil in with detergents it starts cleaning it off and then the lumpy bits end up in the oil pick up pipe, oil pressure drops, engine dies.

the motors only done 10k its a vege recon

Change to a multigrade then, at 10k it should have little build up of shite.
