Hi All, airbag light stays on? had it turned off but after a while it will come on again. been told there is a plastic flexible circuit that is coiled around the steering column? make have break in ciruit

Yep. Clock spring or slip ring. You could do with a VCDS check because other things can lead to the same symptoms like connectors on the airbag circuit (or any other airbags on the van) It should have a code for the slip ring or other related codes.

vw dealer didn't know what a clock spring was!!!

Clock spring is just what people call it. I don't know why, it is a plastic unit with a coiled conductive tape inside. They probably would have recognised the term 'slip ring' better.
