One thing after another with this truck. I have a leaking diesel pump. All the fuel lines have been checked and bolts tightened - today, I watched the drip coming from the bottom of the pump. I'm not sure what part of the pump this is - see pic, I have drawn where the leak is in red. NB: The pic is not my pump, but looks almost identical.
Can anyone tell me what this part of the pump is and whether this is something that can be fixed in situ? Is there a seal that could be replaced? |

If you go to the manuals section of the forum you should be able to find the bosch VE pump manuals somewhere. There are some guides elsewhere on forums that show how to's for the VE pump too. Happy searching...

PS
Do make sure thats where the leak is coming from before tackling it as naturally a leak'll end up dripping from the bottom ...and I think you'll end up needing to remove the pump There are specialists who will rebuild the pump for you if you don't feel up to it. |

As monster says where ever it leaks from it will drip from the bottom, give it a good clean off and try ascertain exactly where its coming from. Could save you a fortune rather than having a full refurb....
I'd be giving it a good degrease with a can of parts cleaner and then getting a small inspection mirror and looking for the leaking areas whilst running. RW

Well - it does seem to be just a straightforward seal in the cold start mechanism. There are some useful photo esays of people replacing these seals online and it looks straightforward enough, but....now I need advice on buying the right seal kit!
I thought it would be straightforward if I have my part number - not so. There are a few kits online, but I have emailed the sellers and given them my part number to enquire if the kits are compatible and despite two lots of emails, none of them have replied. Which I'm guessing means they don't know. I have also emailed parts people to ask if they have anything compatible and I either get an unhelpful 'no, sorry' or no response at all!
So can anyone help? My pump is a Bosch VE6 part no 0460406005 - can anyone help me locate a compatible seal kit? Because the people selling the various kits don't seem to know if they're compatible or not! Edited by Hydra - 16 Aug 18 at 17:14 |

From LT1-Forum Wiki.
Seal kits / spare partsHere are the most important part numbers for ordering from Bosch. The Bosch sealing sets are precisely matched to the respective injection pumps. If one works conscientiously, no seal remains from the sentence.
I need to find out what the abbreviation 'WeDi' means but I would say that either would suit; you may have a seal left over. I would start, as Monster LT says, with a local specialist and see if our information tallies with theirs.
