VW Devon Moonraker camper - Orange - 1980 - 2.0 aircooled. Located in Plymouth!
The camper has MOT until April, and is currently SORN'd. I was using it daily through the summer. As i remember it went straight through the last MOT. I've owned it for the last 5 years. These are really fun vans with a lot of chararcter, hopefully this one will go to someone who will get loads of use out of it. A run down of the good and not so... It has 2.0 Aircooled CU engine, manual gearbox. It starts and drives well, the brakes work well for a van of this age. I've not driven another one, but i'd say the engine probably pulls as it should - however it does either leak or burn some oil, a problem i've overcome by keeping a can of oil with me and checking it often! The odometer reads somewhere in the region of 72,000, however it hasn't worked since i've owned it (i've probably done around 5k). The bulk of the interior and cooker/units were gone when i bought it, i have used it to camp with regardless. Its a Devon conversion with a 'moonraker' poptop - the bed sections are still in the roof and comfortable, i choose to use these when staying in it and i'm 6'7" - it's a nice place to sleep. It has a 3/4 rock and roll bed with some cushions. It has the passenger front swivel chair, so it can be turned to face the rear. It also has a sort of bench seat across the side, useable to sit and eat at the table with. I'm sure the buyer will have plans of their own and fit something personal to them anyway. It is tatty, but useable in it's current state (it is 32 years old now!) It hs an electric hook up with a double plug inside. It has some LED lights hung in the rear, which are connected to a (new last year) leasure battery and split charge system (charges when the engine is running). They really light up the van at night, making it much nicer than just using lanterns. I has a headunit with CD changer under the passenger seat. It has roof bars fitted to it, which holds kayaks/surfboards well and leaving more space inside. It has some Mercedes alloy wheels fitted. The exterior is no show winner - it's in patchy orange but still looks cool. There is rust in various places, around the sliding door and tailgate windows, however these dont seem to have got much worse since i've owned it. It could easily be used while being done up. I'm asking £2500 but make me an offer! Any questions please email me on g60rc@aol.com, i'll reply pretty swiftly! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
