Cheers Steve and thanks for the welcome... Not 100% on the offset but they have come off a T3 pick-up and the guys selling them with the spacers required.. Im just worried about the sliding door issue. Can 18's at this size be put on without issues? On another note Im looking into providing a wheel boring service from my workshop at work in liverpool. Could do a full set for £20, just waiting for a yeah or na from the boss man!

Like i said it all depends on the offset....it's not that much of an issue on the rear of a pick-up but on a van it is.

Diameter doesn't create problems when fitting wheels. You can fit 24 inch wheels if you really want and they'll fit. What you need to look out for is wheel/tyre width and offset (ET) as steve pointed out. At the back, you can get away with a lot as there is a lot more room. I've run 285/30/18s on 18X10 wheels and managed to open the sliding door without too many problems. Granted the sliding door was rubbing against the tyre when open but only just. If you're running 225/40/18s all round, I expect you'll be want to fit longer studs and spacers to get wheels further out as they'll sit quite far in. Up front, things will be close. You can run 8 inch wide wheels with 225/40/18s but the offset must be right to clear the suspension and not stick out from the arch. If you're wondering about offset, here's a quick run down for you. Offset is a measurement taken from the centreline of the wheel (from above as the wheel is stood upright) to the mating surface of the wheel. The greater the offset number, the further IN the wheel sits. The lesser the number, the further OUT the wheel sits. This pic might help aswell. If you're unsure about fitting the wheels yourself, give Baxter a ring at Brickwerks with all the relevant wheel info (offset, width etc) and he'll be able to talk you through. He'll fit them for you also as he has just about all the spacers, bolts and nuts on the shelf for the job. One last point, make sure your tyres are strong enough to go on your van. This isn't usually a problem with low profile 18s as they're fairly highly spec'd but it's worth checking. Check the load rating. MG Edited by Ghia |
