I used a piggyback fuse,
to get a fused 12v supply. I chose a fuse in the middle fusebox that was not live when the ignition was off. Ran the wire from the fuse along inside the dash to one of the dash end caps. Connected the lead from the gadget. to the 12v supply. I earthed the lead from the gadget to the metal of the dashboard.. The lead tucks away in the end cap when the gadget's not in use. Or snakes across the dashboard to the gadget when it's in use. I've assumed folks have basic knowledge about wiring. If you want more info, ask.
