I'm looking to buy a Westy California Exclusive fairly soon. Has anyone driven both the late German TDI options? I've seen a few 150 bhp ones, just wondered whether its a really noticable extra gain from the 102 bhp - there are lots more of the 102 bhp ones available, but I'm just thinking if I'm going to go to the effort of fetching one, I obviously want it to be the best I can get...should I hold out for a 150 bhp one ???? I have the 102 but know from project power on T4 site that 150 is
achievable with new injectors and a visit to chipwizards to have a remap. The 102 has the intercooler already which makes the upgrade simple. I think I'd buy a 150 if it was the same price because it returns better mpg for better pulling power. The injectors are only about £80 but the money is spent on a decent remap which can take 4 - 6 hours. |

Cheers - the 150bhp ones do seem to be slightly higher pricer, but not that much, just depends on mileage - seen quite a few 150s cheaper than 102s. Do you find the 102 has enough power? |

depends what you want it for! i've got a 102 but shortly having it remapped etc, it goes well pulls well but you do tend to loose a bit of speed going uphill after 80mph or so!

I think 102 is not quite enough for the california as it does weigh a fair
amount unladen and thats shows on the hills. On the flat you can easily cruise upto 80 ( then wind resistance gets you) but fuel economy at 80 is not good in either 102 or 150 guise due to the high top. |

Think I'll hold out for a 150bhp one. I've seen a couple of nice ones advertised, just have to work out the logistics etc Edited by dubsta |

Hi there. Hope SB doesntmind me posting this here but just to clarify.... Projekt Power takes a 102 or 88 up to 155bhp plus. Torque delivered is calculated at 320nm. It is a significant upgrade over the stock 102 or 88 bhp. Brings smiles from ear to ear. |
